Our Journey of 15 Years: A Legacy of Change
Founded in 2009 with just 22 young volunteers, Lakshya has grown into a movement that challenges systemic corruption, empowers marginalized communities, and provides quality education to those who need it most. Our founder, Sanju, started this initiative in the resettlement colonies of East Delhi — Kalyanpuri and Trilokpuri — where basic amenities like clean water, safe public spaces, and functional schools were scarce.
Over the past decade and a half, we have filed hundreds of RTI applications, exposed corruption in government offices, ensured legal action against erring officials, and brought about tangible improvements in public service delivery. Our work has touched thousands of lives, from school children getting midday meals to women finding safer public transport.
Our Core Mission Pillars
These six pillars define our approach towards building a just, educated and empowered society.
Youth Leadership
We believe that youth are not just tomorrow's leaders but today's change-makers. Our leadership development programs train young people in advocacy, public speaking, and civic engagement. Over 3,000 youth have been mentored, many now leading their own community initiatives.
Govt. School Transparency
Through sustained RTI campaigns and community monitoring, we have forced several government schools to open locked toilets, utilize allocated budgets, and improve teaching standards. Our interventions have directly benefited over 5,000 students in East Delhi.
Free Libraries for All
Financial constraints should never be a barrier to knowledge. We have established 8 free community libraries across Delhi-NCR, providing books, newspapers, and competitive exam materials to underprivileged students, benefiting more than 2,500 learners annually.
Environmental Conservation
Our green campaigns include tree plantation drives, waste management awareness, and river conservation projects. We have planted over 10,000 saplings and conducted 50+ awareness workshops in slum clusters about sustainable living.
Rights of Vulnerable Groups
Women, elderly, persons with disabilities and children remain at the center of our rights-based programs. We provide legal aid, health camps, and awareness sessions to ensure they receive government entitlements and live with dignity.
Policy Intervention
We work at the macro level, drafting policy recommendations and collaborating with government bodies to ensure systemic accountability. Our advocacy has led to administrative reforms in public libraries and transport services in Delhi.

Beyond our core pillars, we have executed several high-impact campaigns that have transformed lives and systems. Each initiative stems from grassroots realities and a deep commitment to justice.

Library as a Living Hub
Our vision is to establish libraries that go beyond silent reading — they become centers for debate, digital literacy, career guidance and community dialogues. The first such library at Kalyanpuri now serves 500+ active members daily.
Communication & Career Access
We provide free spoken English and soft skills training to youth from economically weaker sections. Many of our alumni have secured jobs in retail, BPO and hospitality sectors, breaking the cycle of poverty.
Fearless Legal Fight
Our legal cell has taken on corrupt officials, private bus mafia, and negligent government departments. We believe in the power of the law to create systemic change. "न झुकना है, न बिकना है, और न रुकना है।"
How We Operate: The Lakshya Model
Lakshya has never taken funding from any government or large corporate donor. Our work is sustained entirely by community trust, small individual donations, and the unwavering commitment of our volunteers. This independence allows us to fearlessly question power and demand accountability without any conflict of interest.
We follow a three-step approach: Identify grievance → Legal/RTI intervention → Community-led follow up. Every campaign begins with listening to the most marginalized voices. We then use legal tools like RTI, public hearings, and court cases to enforce rights. Finally, we train local youth to monitor progress, ensuring long-term sustainability.
